October 4, 2023 - Update About Incident on Campus

Dear Eagle Community,

Earlier today, school and district administrators learned of a threatening statement made by a student directed toward other students. The student stated that they were going to bring a weapon to school. In following established safety protocols, district and school administrators launched an investigation into the matter. The student’s statement has since been deemed non-credible and we are confident that our campus remains safe and secure.

Per Education Code, matters related to student discipline are confidential and, therefore, additional information will not be shared. However, as your principal, I want to reassure you that the safety and security of our students and staff is the number one priority at Sierra Vista. We take any and all concerns very seriously.

I would like to thank our students and families for their vigilance in reporting concerns to me or other members of our staff. This situation has provided us with a couple of important reminders: If you see something, say something. We must all do our part in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students. We also ask that you please remind your students about the impact of their words on others, and emphasize the importance of respecting others at all times.

Sincerely,

Debra Kojima

Principal

Sierra Vista Elementary School
